For generations, dance has been more than just celebration—it’s been a form of power, resilience, and unity. Our ancestors used dance to preserve culture, communicate strength, and build community in the face of adversity. It was rhythm with purpose, movement with meaning.
The Freedom Steps Line Dance Contest carries that spirit forward—honoring tradition through expression, togetherness, and undeniable style. This isn’t just a competition—it’s a tribute to the enduring joy, pride, and power in every step we take.

Official Rules & Guidelines – 2025 Las Vegas Juneteenth Festival
1.) Contest Overview
Entry Fee: $20 per person
Registration: Must be completed online with payment submitted at time of registration
Deadline: Friday, May 30th at 11:59 PM
Maximum Capacity: 50 participants, first come, first served
Eligibility: Open to adults 18+ of all genders
Note: No walk-ups or late entries will be accepted. All contestants MUST be pre-registered.
2.) Judging & Prize Purse
The top 3 finalists will be selected by the judges
Audience applause will determine final placement at the direction of the event host
Each finalist will receive:
A complimentary LVJF Signature T-Shirt
Prize money:
🥇 1st Place: $500 + 1 year of official bragging rights
🥈 2nd Place: $150
🥉 3rd Place: $100
3.) Performance Format
Contestants will dance together in a group format—no solo performances
Three special guest judges will observe and select finalists through a process of elimination
Judging will be based on:
Synchronization (group rhythm and timing)
Move Accuracy (mastery of the choreography)
Personal Style (flare, confidence, and energy)
Dances to be performed:
– Cupid Flex
– Jerusalema
– Boots on Da Ground
– Country Girl Shake
– Can’t Get Enough
Song order will be selected at the judges’ discretion.
4.) Additional Details
This contest is all about fun, freedom, and cultural pride—bring your A-game, bring your style, and most of all, bring your joy
Contestants will be contacted prior to the event with check-in instructions and contest timing
No explicit or inappropriate dance moves or attire will be permitted—this is a family-friendly event
